Psalm 94:22 But the Lord has been my defence, and my God the rock
When it comes to the Help of the Lord it is important to understand the Lord’s heart toward you.
God’s Word tells us: “If God is for us, who can be against us”! (Romans 8:31)
I love this verse so much. How silly for anyone to come against you as a child of God.
The problem for those who do come against you is that God is invisible and what they cannot see, they do not think twice about… and then they do something silly – they pick a fight with you, but they don’t realise who they are really picking a fight with!
Here in Psalm 94, God reveals He is your Defender. He is your Advocate and Judge and will protect you against the accusations and attacks of your enemy.
In Joel 3:9-10 God says to His enemies:
Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, let them all draw near, let them come up…
God, like a heavyweight boxer, is saying to His enemies here in Joel, “come on, have a go… bring it on… allow your very best, your mighty men, those who call themselves strong to come against me! It doesn't matter who they are or how many, I’ll deal with all of them.”
That’s exactly what God did with Pharaoh for Moses; with Goliath for David; with the Midianites for Gideon and with the Moabites and Ammonites who came against King Jehoshaphat!
And this is the heart of the Lord toward you. Today, Jesus is your defence.
Jesus is the secret place of the Most High. He is the One who covers and protects you with His wings! (Psalm 91:1) He is the strong tower that you can run into. (Proverbs 18:10) He defends you day and night against the accusations of your spiritual enemy. (Revelation 12:10)
When you try to defend yourself, you only have two hands and your own human resources. But when you allow Jesus to become your defence, He defends you with His nail-pierced hands and all the resources of Heaven!
When people accuse you, attack you and even come against you, allow Jesus to be your defence. Declare “the Lord is my defence and the rock of my refuge”.
Declare Jesus as your secret place covering and protecting you. Declare Jesus as your Strong Tower who guards you. Declare Jesus as the One who defends you against every accusation.
Psalm 108:13 Through God you shall do valiantly for it is God who will tread down all your enemies.
Don’t try to defend yourself or try to get back at others by taking matters into your own hands. Allow the Lord to be your Great Defender!
