Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.
This verse doesn’t just reveal an attribute about God, that He is faithful, but it reveals that is who He is – Faithful. He is not a faithful God but the faithful God. His faithfulness will flow through to a thousand generations, in other words – always!
Declaring the faithfulness of God keeps you conscious of the Lord’s goodness and love towards you. He is not just faithful and loving toward you when you are good, but even when you mess up.
2 Timothy 2:13 says, If we are faithless he remains faithful because he cannot deny Himself.
Faithfulness is not just a character trait of God, it is who He is and He will be faithful to you even when you are unfaithful to Him!
Whatever promise you are standing on God’s Word for, God is faithful and will fulfill that promise. Just because it is taking longer than what you thought doesn't mean God’s faithfulness toward you is declining. Don’t become discouraged. Even when you cannot see anything happening, that doesn’t mean God is not working. The fact that something might be taking a long time doesn’t mean God has run out of options. Don’t allow a negative, cynical spirit to worm its way into your heart. My formal education took such a long time from the age of five all the way to 23. Just imagine if I gave up halfway through because it was taking so long!
God is a faithful God and He is faithful to His Word and will fulfill that promise in your life.
The Bible says all the promises of God are “Yes” and “Amen”. That means if you will do your part – which is simply to believe, to trust, even when it looks impossible, God’s promises will come to pass.
Others tried to talk Abraham out of the promises that God made to him because it was taking so long to come to pass. Others were trying to talk Joseph out of the dreams in his heart from coming to pass because it was taking so long. Others were trying to talk Job out of it because of all the trouble and calamity that was not going away. But in all these cases Abraham, Joseph, and Job continued to believe the promises of God and they all came to pass!
That will be your testimony too as you just continue to believe.
Let the truth about God’s faithfulness sink deep down into your heart. Declare the Lord’s faithfulness. Jesus said when the seed of God’s Word takes root, it will produce a great harvest in your life. (Mark 4 – Parable of Sower).
