Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Jesus told His disciples something similar in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you…do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”.
Where Jesus provides you with the destination, Paul provides you with the pathway.
A troubled heart, a heart filled with fear, is the cause of “no peace in your life”. It is impossible to have peace when you have a restless, troubled heart. It doesn’t matter how many holidays you go on, or how much wealth you accumulate – you will never possess this peace that Jesus is talking about because your heart is troubled.
The only way to have the peace that God promises is through His Son – Christ. It is not about trying to create an environment that will bring you peace because this peace only comes through His Son.
Psalm 127:2 It is vain to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for He gives His beloved sleep.
It is pointless to worry and lose sleep over things because it is not going to change anything. We all know this but it goes on to say that God gives sleep to His beloved. Who is this talking about? Psalm 127:1 gives you the answer saying:
“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.”
The person who gets a good night's sleep is the person who lets God do the building and the watching over their life! Let God be the One who guards your health, your family, your children, and even your wealth! Don’t worry about things by staying up late or getting up early to do everything, but practice what the Apostle Paul teaches:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Prayer and peace go hand in hand. Let God take over and allow Him to show you His wisdom and His power.
Your “doing and performing” is simply to cast the care. Your “fight” is simply to stand (Ephesians 6:13-14). Hand your cares over to God and you will see Him protecting you (1 Peter 5:7) and turning things around for your good (Romans 8:28).
