Exodus 15:26 … I am the Lord who heals you.
The very first name God revealed to humanity was "Elohim” – God your Creator. But after the fall of man, God revealed another name – “Jehovah”, which reveals God as your Redeemer.
As you progressively walk through the Old Testament God reveals seven characteristics about His nature – all through seven Redemptive Names about Himself. And the very first characteristic God reveals about Himself is Jehovah Rapha – the Lord who heals you.
God revealed this Name during Israel’s exodus from Egypt… they had just completed the first Passover meal. As they smeared the blood of the lamb upon their door frames and then partook of the roasted lamb, not one child from Israel died and every Israelite that left Egypt, walked out healthy and whole.
Psalm 105:37 “there was none feeble among the tribes” which is referring back to Israel’s exodus from Egypt.
And in the same way, Israel was delivered from their dual bondage of slavery and sickness, today, we also have been delivered from the bondage of sin and sickness through the work of Jesus on the cross. Jesus is the Redeemer and He bore all our sickness and disease upon that cross.
In the developed nations of the world today, we are blessed with great hospitals, great doctors and nurses along with the option of health insurance. I thank the Lord for these but I also don’t want to be dependent on these. I want to depend upon the redemptive healing power of Christ’s work on the cross.
Every time I have traveled to lesser-developed nations, I meet people, where the health facilities and benefits offered, do not even come close to those in developed nations. Therefore, the only hope these people have to fall back on is Jesus, and miraculously I see healing after healing.
I’ve seen crippled legs become whole, blind eyes see and cancers die. The healing power of the Lord is just as powerful and available today as it was for Israel entering the wilderness and when Jesus went about doing good and healing all that were sick. (Acts 10:38)
Don’t look to the circumstances around you and what your history has been, just look to Jesus the Healer for your prognosis of what your future health will be!
Right now, the Lord God declares you healthy and whole in Christ Jesus. This is your redeemed state.
