Mark 11:22-23 Have faith in God. Whosoever shall say to this mountain throw yourself into the sea and shall not doubt in their heart but shall believe those things they say shall come to pass, it will be done for them.
Faith and fear have one thing in common – they both believe that something will happen that you cannot see.
Fear is believing the negative. It is believing what the fallen corrupted world says about you – that you will be defeated, this illness will be terminal, that marriage will not last, your business dealings will fail, you are going to run out of money or be lonely in life.
But faith is believing what God says about you through His Word. That you are the head and not the tail, that you are victorious in Christ, you are an overcomer in Christ, you can do what God has called you to do, you have health, well-being, and provision in Christ!
Fear always sends you to the negative and faith always brings you back to the positive. Fear says the worst is still to come but faith says the best is yet to come.
Here is the key: What you meditate upon is what takes root in your life.
If you continually worry (meditate) and align your thinking with negativity and fear – that’s what will take root in your life. But if you meditate and align your thinking with God’s Word - faith takes root.
Job is well known for calamity and destruction coming upon him. But Job 3:25 reveals the root cause: “The thing I feared came upon me”. Although this story reveals his faithfulness and commitment to God through every trial, it also reveals the source of this calamity – fear. And fear gives the devil access to your life. It was the devil who brought all these things upon Job's life (John 10:10) and fear was the permission slip.
But faith is your permission slip that activates all the power, presence, and promises of God in your life. Hebrews 11:6 without faith it is impossible to please God. For whoever comes to God must believe that He exists and that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him.
Don’t carry a negative, warped view of God where “sometimes He blesses and sometimes He brings other things upon me to teach me humility”. No! Faith believes God is a rewarder.
You might be living a blessed life right now and you can see the Lord’s reward over you. But some successful people also carry fears that it might be taken away from them or they might lose it. This is giving fear the permission to gain a foothold in your life. Learn to detect these symptoms of fear and go to faith immediately extinguishing them. Don’t give fear any foothold in your life.
Declare the wonderful truth of God’s Word over you. David said in Psalm 23 – your goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life. The goodness of God is not just for a season, it is for life. Faith knows it and declares it!
