Ezekiel 37:4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!
God is telling the prophet – don’t describe the situation that surrounds you, but declare the promises of God over your surroundings. God says the same thing to you and I.
This means using your words to declare the favor of God, breakthrough, healing, and restoration over your situation. Don’t just talk to God about how big your problems are, but tell your problems how big your God is!
The Lord said to Ezekiel can these bones live? It may as well have been a rhetorical question because regardless of Ezekiel’s answer the outcome was going to be the same.
“Son of man, prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!’” (Ezekiel 37:4)
Now pause and read this carefully.
Who is doing the speaking? -> Ezekiel
What is he speaking to? -> Dead things
What is he speaking? -> God’s Word
You don’t ask the Lord to speak into or over the situation. You do the speaking. You don’t ask God to turn the situation around before you say anything. You speak to those dead things in your life. You don’t speak what you are feeling, you declare God’s Word!
God’s Word is the life and the power that turns dead situations around. The spiritual principle is this:
Don’t speak what you see, speak what God says. Don’t describe the problems that surround you, declare the promises of God into your surroundings.
You are talking directly to the “dead things” around you and you are saying, “listen up dead things – hear the Word of the Lord, this is what the Lord says…”
Then you speak God’s scriptures over that thing! It's the only way that thing can hear the Lord’s Word – you have to release it from your mouth! Don’t be timid and mild, speak with boldness and the authority of the Lord!
If you are surrounded by dead dreams, sickness, lack, and hopeless situations, don’t become miserable and discouraged or start complaining and telling everyone how much life sucks! Begin to declare the Word of God over your life day by day. And if you make a commitment to do that, God’s commitment to you is you will see your situation turning around.
It might not happen immediately, but it will happen. How do I know it will happen? Well the Word of God is my guarantee.
Isaiah 55:10-11 says, As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
