FAITH SEES IT AND DECLARES IT
Mark 11:22-24
“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
This passage of Scripture is often called the mechanics of faith because it reveals how faith actually operates.
The domain of faith is the heart (your inner man) not your head (or your five senses) and faith functions through two important actions… Seeing with eyes of faith and declaring with your mouth.
Faith starts by “seeing it”. Seeing what? Seeing God’s grace. When you see God’s grace, He sees your faith!
I love the story in Mark 10:46-52 about Blind Bartimaeus. He heard that Jesus was in town and knew he was approaching because of the large crowd. He knew that Jesus had been healing people and started crying out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” Even blind Bartimaeus could see the grace of God.
And when you see the goodness and willingness of God’s grace to meet any need in your life, God will see your faith!
Faith declares or meditates on the truth about God’s Word
In Mark 5 you can read the story of the Woman with the Issue of Blood. The scriptures say she heard about Jesus healing people and began to say to herself, “if I can just touch his garments, I shall be healed.” She was saying this to herself over and over and over. This is actually what Bible meditation is – to mutter over and over to yourself.
That day there were hundreds, possibly thousands of people who were pressing against Jesus and touching him, but only one person touched Him with faith and Jesus felt power flow out of his body as this woman received her healing.
Both Bartimaeus and this woman saw the goodness and grace of Jesus and that’s when God sees your faith!
This is how you grow your faith – it’s by seeing how good and gracious Jesus is! Faith doesn't grow because you are reading the Bible more and more or studying all the doctrines and theologies of the Bible. No, its simply seeing how willing Jesus is to meet your every need! It’s meditating upon what Jesus has done for you and is willing and able to do for you every single day.
